It's not what happens to you. It's what you do with what happens to you.
No matter who we are, we will face challenges and adversity. Chris Waddell's achievements transcend what others believe he can achieve given his disability. The Nametags™ programs push people to challenge the assumptions and limitations that result from the labels that we give to ourselves and others.
Nametags™ does not focus on disability, but rather the universal experience of challenge and the power of resilience. Created by Chris Waddell and resilience educator Donna M. Volpitta, Ed.D, the program centers around the message "It's not what happens to you. It's what you do with what happens to you" and ultimately, our collective responsibility to create communities that allow people to thrive.
Nametags™ is endorsed by nationally recognized anti-bullying expert Joel Haber.
The Nametags™ Education Program is a forty-minute (forty-five minutes to an hour with questions) assembly designed for students third grade and above. In this compelling interactive program designed in conjunction with resilience educator Donna Volpitta, Ed.D, students learn that they have the power to make choices about how they are perceived, the nametags that they wear. In the face of adversity, they can choose resilience.
The Nametags™ Corporate Program is a 40-minute presentation designed to encourage employees to embrace diversity. By asking people to question their assumptions about disability and demonstrating the experiences that we share, this inspirational presentation encourages the audience to create a community in which every employee is given the opportunity to be successful.
